What's the highest rank you can get when you can only use understable discs?
Find out at the understable challenge.
Rules For The Understable Challenge
Rules:
You can only use discs where the turn and fade add up to zero or less.
For putt and approach discs (speed 4 or less), the turn and fade must add up to 1 or less.
Examples:
The goal is simple—stick to discs where the last two flight numbers add up to zero (or 1 for putters). Here’s some examples:
9/5/-1/1 = 0 → Allowed (-1 + 1 = 0)
2/3/0/1 = 1 → Allowed (0 + 1 = 1)
6/4/-2/0 = -2 → Allowed (-2 + 0 = -2)
2/3/0/2 = 2 → Not Allowed (0 + 2 = 2)
9/5/-1/2 = 1 → Not Allowed (-1 + 2 = 1)
9/5/0/3 = 3 → Not Allowed (0 + 3 = 3)
Why Zero & Not -1?
We picked 0 as the baseline for understable discs because most players don’t have a ton of truly understable options in their bag. Instead of forcing everyone to buy new discs, we decided to make things easier by allowing discs with flight numbers that total zero.
Special Exception for Putters:
We noticed that most putt and approach discs (speed 4 or less) tend to have flight numbers that add up to 1 instead of 0. So, to save you from buying extra putters, we made an exception for putters and approach discs. If their total is 1, they’re still good to go!
Keeping It Fair
Sure, we get it—beat-in discs and different plastics can make a disc fly totally different from its flight numbers. Maybe your Firebird flips more than your Roadrunner (shoutout to years of tree love), but to keep things fair and objective, we’re sticking to the printed flight numbers only. No arguing over how flippy your disc has become!

How Do We Determine Your Score/Rank
We take the universal average score for the course and layout you play at on UDisc and use that as our baseline to determine what score you need to shoot to earn each rank. (You will tell us your course and layout when submitting scores and we will verify the universal average scores that day).
For example, if the universal average score is a 54 (or +4), we will then use that score as our baseline to determine what you need to shoot to earn each rank.
Gold - 39 (-11)
Orange - 44 (-6)
Blue - 49 (-1)
White - 54 (+4)
Red - 59 (+9)
Green - 64 (+14)
Purple - 69+ (+19)
Universal scores can be found by going to the course and then leaderboards where you'll find the world icon next to the universal average for that course and layout.
